This deep red, dark berry-flavoured malbec comes from a small winery in mendoza that uses grapes from the 800m high vineyards around argentina's uco valley. Warm, sunny days and cool nights help ensure a long growing season - meaning the grapes can ripen to perfection before harvest. Chief winemaker sebastian ruiz takes tiny quantities of wonderfully concentrated malbec berries to make this deeply coloured wine, before aging some of it in oak barrels for up to 8 months. This gives the finished wine a deliciously spicy, vanilla and spice edge. Sebastian's drive to produce the very best wines is encapsulated in the name 'temma' - the term word the huarpe indians, who lived in this region centuries ago, used to describe a deep desire for truly exquisite food and drink. "Showing a classic, spicy malbec nose with dark berry fruit, spice and a light touch of vanilla oak. Concentrated and rich, it's a shining example of the top quality malbecs argentina is fast developing a solid reputation for. Fantastic with a juicy steak." |
