Ruby ports are the youngest, fruitiest style of port, aged for no more than two years. Strikingly powerful cousins of vintage port, they don't require decades of ageing to enjoy at their peak and (most importantly!) don't cost the earth. This beauty has a bright red colour and full, youthful vigour and sweetness. A fine introduction to one of the world's greatest wines. Andresen is one of the last remaining family-owned and run port wine houses. Founded in 1845 it has built a reputation based on its rigorous selection of grapes to make only the finest wines. Owner carlos flores de los santos is a passionate believer in port as one of the world's finest wines and has amassed multiple awards from competitions around the world. A dedication to quality at all levels means even this relatively straight forward, ready to drink ruby port is way above average. The very exacting (and highly regarded) chief winemaker not to mention former head of tasting at the port wine institute, alvaro van zellar, is delighted by it. And so are we! |
