A delicate single malt aged in oak and then sherry wood - hence the name. This imparts soft oloroso notes, layered with honey and vanilla. Taste it and you'll pick up nuttiness, sherry - even a touch of cinammon. The balvenie distillery was founded in 1886 by william grant, major in the dufftown volunteers. He worked up until the day he died, at the age of 83 in 1923. A contemporary of grant described him as "always very busy with something... A very live cove." |
