Masses of large, semi-double, fragrant, white flowers, from july to september, occasionally followed by spherical, red, rose-hips. This popular and reliable shrub rose is perfect for a mixed or shrub border in sun or partial shade. Best on fertile, moist, well-drained soil, the delicate paper-like blooms make elegant cut-flowers.Position: full sun or partial shadesoil: fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soilrate of growth: averageflowering period: july to septemberflower colour: whiteother features: excellent cut-flowers; leathery, mid-green leaveshardiness: fully hardygarden care: before planting shorten thick roots to 25cm (10in) and reduce top-growth to an outward-facing bud 20-30cm (8-12in) above ground-level. Plant during a frost-free spell, incorporating well-rotted organic matter and a balanced fertiliser into the planting hole. Ensure that the 'bud union' (the bulge at the base of the shoots) is 2.5Cm (1in) below the soil.Goes well with: lamium maculatum 'roseum', pulmonaria officinalis 'sissinghurst white', chionodoxa luciliae gigantea group, alchemilla mollis, rosa 'congratulations', rosa 'silver jubilee'.All our roses are grown in a field then dug up andput in a pot. This means that they will not have produced any new roots while in the pot until spring. This is standard practice for roses at this time of year. |
